I love nothing more than the challenge of changing a pristine sheet of paper into something of dimension, to gesture the material to create an interpretive form from nature rather than mimic it !” This is how the Anatomy of the Paper Flower was developed.
Melbourne born Paper Artist, Jo Delves Neville is the artist and designer behind Paper Couture, one of Sydney’s most respected commercial creative paper practices – Paper Couture. Her work has appeared in many magazines, books and television shows, she has worked with many high-end brands, Tiffany & Co, Louis Vuitton, Perrier Jouet & Moet & Chandon just to name a few. Jo was recently one of the artist at the NGV for the inaugural Art of Bloom. She is a delightful working artist, who will enlighten and entertain you with insights into her creative process.
Jo is passionate to create templates from the actual bloom, a process she has called ‘the anatomy of the paper flower!’ With this process you will learn to create papery versions of almost any bloom being studied. Join Jo in one of her wonderful workshops, where she will share her knowledge of these beautiful blooms and walk you through the steps to create stunning sculptural paper flowers. These classes have been designed for all levels of creativity from beginners who don’t think that they are creative to those that are. |

Dahlia masterclassIn the Dahlia masterclass Jo will share some of her most guarded methods of making organically gestured flower petals using sustainable watercolour paper.

rose masterclassIn the Rose masterclass Using coloured French papers and Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils you will create paper roses using Jo’s wet gesturing method.

the wall flower workshop | 10-1 pm, saturday 22nd july & 26th august
In this Giant Wall Flower workshop Jo will share how to make these stunning Italian crepe paper wall flowers that have been part of her commercial practice for high end brand activations. These flowers work for room décor or backdrops for upcoming events. Jo has engineered a kit that works with all levels from beginner to experienced. You will be shown how easy and effective these blooms are to make and shape. You will go away with stunning sculptural blooms and the confidence and tools to make more once you go home. All tools, a kit with materials and templates and afternoon tea are provided, just bring your hands. Crepe paper flowers were originally made in the 1890s.
DAHLIA MASTERCLASS | 10am-1pm, saturday 12 AUGUST
In the Dahlia masterclass Jo will share some of her most guarded methods of making organically gestured flower petals using sustainable watercolour paper. This bloom is an advance flower to make, however, Jo has engineered a kit that works with all levels from beginner to experienced. You will use dyes to colour one or both blooms that is pure Alchemy. You will go away with stunning sculptural blooms and the confidence and tools to make more once you go home. All tools, a kit with pre cut materials and templates and afternoon tea are provided, just bring your hands. Did you know Dahlias symbolize elegance, inner strength, creativity, change, and dignity.
