This is a great way for guests to experience how international arrivals were introduced to the Quarantine Station, located alongside the wharf.
The former Quarantine Station's Luggage Store was the first building that former internees saw and came in contact with, and it was from this point that the process of being quarantined began.
The Luggage Store Café & Museum features an exhibition about the former Quarantine Station and experiences, including reconstructions of First and Third Class ship cabins from the RMS Niagara. There is an information counter, where tour tickets can be purchased, a retail outlet featuring a collection of merchandise & café which has sandwiches, salads, cake, coffee & more on offer.
Significant features associated with the building's former use as a luggage storage facility have been preserved and interpreted through displays and signage including the rails used by the luggage railway and the luggage racks used to store cases.
The combination of arrival by water taxi onto the wharf, an introduction to the site in the Luggage Store Visitor Centre, and launching onto the site by guided tour, creates an arrival experience not to be forgotten and one that reflects the same route as former internees.
